StratosNet Accelerator
for FleetBroadband, BGAN and SwiftBroadband

Advantages

Satellite data speeds from 2.4 to 64 kbps

StratosNet® is dynamically tailored to match the data speed of the type of sat phone placing the data call. StratosNet allows you to connect efficiently, no matter if your sat phone is a mini-M at 2400 bps, or an M4 or Fleet unit transmitting at 64,000 bps.

Packet Data

The latest innovations of the Inmarsat network include Regional BGAN, Fleet and M4 packet data services. StratosNet easily accommodates these services out of the box, for an “always-on” Internet connection. With packet data, you only pay for data transmitted, not for time connected.

Multiple Satellite Networks

StratosNet accommodates all of the circuit-switched and packet data services Stratos currently offers, including Inmarsat-A, B, M, Mini-M, Fleet (including MPDS), M4 (including MPDS), MarineSat/LandSat/Oceancell (MSat) and Regional BGan.

On-the-Fly Compression of all information transmitted

Stratos understands that every minute counts for mobile users. To further increase efficiency, and to minimize connection time and cost, we've included compression software as an integral part of our service. Everything that goes over the StratosNet link will automatically be compressed by an estimated minimum of 4:1 for e-mail transactions, and 2:1 for web browsing. These rates can even be higher, depending on the size and nature of the information being transmitted.

Optional Web Browsing

Standard Internet service normally includes Internet e-mail, as well as the capability to browse the web. StratosNet can do this as well, along with an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) capability. However, we also realize that some owners may not want the ability to browse the web to be available to users of their satellite phone, particularly at lower data speeds, such as Inmarsat Mini-M. Therefore, Stratos offers the option to disable web browsing on your StratosNet account.

WebMail

It’s great to have a free email address to use from a satellite terminal, but how can you access your StratosNet email account while away from the terminal? WebMail. You can use any Internet service and any web browser to access your StratosNet account at the webmail.StratosNet.com website. WebMail also allows you to configure your StratosNet email account for specific settings and filters, such as maximum file size acceptable, block or allow email addresses or email domains, and many more items. If a mobile user has chosen web browsing option, this is also a convenient means to set these parameters from the mobile side.

Unique message waiting notification

Avoid the high costs of dialing in to check if that important message has arrived. Your StratosNet account can be set to automatically send a short message to an alternate email-capable device or service, such as an Inmarsat-C terminal (StratosMail) or any Internet e-mail address.

No unwanted messages in your mailbox

Your StratosNet user profile can be tailored to determine who can and cannot send messages to your StratosNet e-mail account. The StratosNet service can be configured to include or exclude all e-mail addresses or accept/reject all messages from a single domain name or specific e-mail addresses.

Works with standard Internet applications

StratosNet is automatically configured to use the familiar Microsoft® Outlook Express as email client and Microsoft Internet Explorer for web browsing.

Easy online registration

New and existing Stratos satellite service customers can easily register for StratosNet Internet service through our secure stratosnet.com web site.

Selective Message Download

StratosNet's e-mail capability can be configured to operate in one of two modes. Using the IMAP protocol option, you can simply view the subject lines and other header information in your mailbox, then choose the messages you want to download. You can also delete messages remotely without viewing them. In POP3 mode, you can simply download all emails at once. The choice is yours and is easy to select during configuration.

Pay only for satellite airtime

There are no registration or monthly fees associated with use of the StratosNet service, and the CD is free as well. You pay only the satellite airtime charges incurred to connect to StratosNet, as itemized on your monthly bill.

24-hour, 7 days-a-week customer care

Stratos has skilled customer service professionals working around the clock to assist you with any aspect of StratosNet service, including configuration, hardware, software and network issues.
