StratosNet Appropriate Use Policy
This Appropriate Use Policy is intended to help protect our customers and others from inappropriate use of
the Internet. This policy provides suggested guidelines for StratosNet customers, and examples of unacceptable
behavior, but is not intended to be exhaustive. Stratos reserves the right at any time to update this policy.
Suggested guidelines:
- Keep user name and password confidential - Confidentiality of StratosNet user names and
passwords is necessary to prevent unauthorized use of StratosNet accounts. Customers are reminded
that they will be held responsible for all satellite charges incurred through their StratosNet
account. Also, liability for inappropriate behavior using a StratosNet account will rest with
the registered StratosNet account holder.
- Make security a priority - A customer may not, through action or inaction, allow others
to use StratosNet in an illegal or inappropriate manner. A customer should not permit their network,
through action or inaction, to be configured in such a way that gives others the capability to use
StratosNet in an illegal or inappropriate manner.
- Respect Internet community standards - StratosNet customers should adhere to charters, published
guidelines, FAQs, or community standards for what is deemed appropriate behavior when posting to a
newsgroup or sending material over the Internet. Do not send messages, data, images and programs that
are libelous, defamatory, obscene, or pornographic.
- Refrain from unacceptable behavior - Unacceptable use of StratosNet accounts includes
the following behavior:
- Copyright Infringement - Unauthorized copying and distribution of copyrighted material,
including but not limited to photographs, music, video, magazines, books, and software.
- Hacking - Attempts, whether successful or not, to gain unauthorized access to any network
or data.
- Threats and Harassment - Threats of bodily harm or destruction of property, or other
threatening, abusive or harassing activity.
- Impersonation/Forgery - Adding, removing, or modifying identifying network header
information ("spoofing") in an effort to deceive or mislead. Attempting to impersonate
any person by using forged headers or other identifying information.
- Unauthorized Use of StratosNet - Resale or redistribution of StratosNet
services, or profiting in any other way by providing StratosNet services to others.
- Unsolicited Commercial E-mail (Spamming) - Sending unsolicited commercial e-mail to a
distribution list or posting similar commercial messages to a newsgroup.
- Cancellation of Service - Stratos reserves the right to cancel service for any customer
whose use of StratosNet violates any law or regulation, or the accepted norms of the
Internet community, whether expressly stated in this policy or not. Stratos also reserves the right
to prohibit activities that damage its commercial reputation and goodwill.
