Global Personal Satellite Services

Stratos offers worldwide Inmarsat mini-M and -M4 mobile satellite services for customers needing lightweight, easy-to-use portable communications.

Stratos' Inmarsat mini-M services offer:

• affordable worldwide voice, fax, e-mail and internet access
• Nera and Thrane & Thrane units, weighing only 2.5 kg (approx. 5 lb.)
• airtime pricing programs customized to individual calling profiles
• optional use of Inmarsat mini-M big dish antenna (roughly twice the size of built-in antenna on portable unit) delivering lower per-minute costs for the same mini-M services

For mobile customers on land with larger data requirements, Stratos offers the world's first portable terminal built for high-speed data applications: Inmarsat-M4. Stratos' Inmarsat-M4 service delivers:

• High-speed data services including Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) and Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) quality voice & data, as well as mini-M quality voice (optional fax & data)
• Truly portable terminals weighing less than 5 kg (11 lb.)
• Terminals optimized for use with ISDN services
• Higher analog modem throughput (28.8 kbps) than Inmarsat-B (9.6 kbps)
• Hardware and service rates below Inmarsat-B
• Mobile access to HSD applications such as Internet e-mail; web access; FTP; videoconferencing; store-and-forward video; broadcast quality audio; multiplexed voice, fax and data (up to 8 lines); STU-III at 9.6 kbps; G3/G4 fax, etc.

Global Inmarsat Satellite Services

Stratos provides:

• worldwide four-ocean region coverage of Inmarsat-A, -B, -M, -M4 and mini-M services through land earth station (LES) Access Code 013
• Inmarsat-C access through Perth and Laurentides LESs using Special Access Code (SAC) 633333 for all regions

Stratos is also:

• an Inmarsat shareholder
• an authorized ITU Accounting Authority (I.D. codes CA02 and CA03)
• an Inmarsat Point of Service Activation

SIM Cards

One of the great advantages of Stratos' Inmarsat mini-M and -M4 services is that a user's phone or data number does not need to be specific to the satellite terminal. Stratos can provide customers with a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card that enables multiple users on a single terminal, with each individual's charges billed directly to their account. This is advantageous when various employees within a company or on a vessel communicate through one or more satellite terminals, i.e. crew calling from a vessel. Use of the SIM card enables companies to keep track of all calls made directly by the caller.

MarineSat/LandSat Regional Services

Stratos provides regional cost-effective MarineSat/LandSat satellite services, including voice, fax and data capabilities similar to the mini-M personal satellite service. Terminals are available in portable, fixed site and marine versions for use within North America, Central America, the Caribbean and hundreds of miles of surrounding waters.

Our common-user facility (CUF) satellite network and coast radio station facilities are managed by senior Stratos staff with multi-project experience in the oil and gas industry.

North Atlantic HF Radio Services

Stratos operates the only privately owned HF coast radio station, located on the East Coast of Canada. It provides Tors Cove Radio HF telephony services for the North Atlantic shipping community, Rainbow Radio aeronautical HF telephony services and Aeronautical Operational Control (AOC) message services.

HF service management is also provided on a contract basis for automated aeronautical HF Datalink services, HF Telex and military aircraft communications.

24-Hour Operations and Customer Support Centre

Stratos has gained recognition for its excellent customer support services which include:
